this is such stunning propaganda.
if you ever wondered:”how could the US justify doing this?” then this is your answer. and it is kind of a scary answer at that.

that is absolutely crazy. so they justified it by saying that the japanese people along that coast were dangerous, including the two thirds that were citizens, so had to be put somewhere else in case some sort of chaos broke loose.
that just doesn’t make sense! most of them were american citizens, so were protected under the constitution, and the government had no right to ‘relocate’ them. and for the ones that weren’t citizens, just because they aren’t citizens doesn’t mean they are a threat. i think this country has a long history of forgetting that all the founding people were immigrants themselves, and that just because you are from somewhere else or your ancestors were, doesn’t mean that you agree with what the government of that land is doing.

Really good comment Kai. I think you’ve really hit the nail on the head – America is so terrified of immigrants and their ideas, when in reality, up until VERY recently in the history of the world, everyone in this country was an immigrant. I think a lot of people are afraid. And don’t forget those campaigns that the government had to dehumanize the Japanese – well, they turned Japanese people into inhuman monsters. And while it was intended for the ones across the ocean, it took affect on everyone of that origin.
